Orbital Resonance is a sound and light installation based on the orbits of the eight planets, Pluto, and the seven large moons of our solar system. For each planet, a unique sound triggers a light representing one complete orbit around the sun. Each moon has its own sound that represents one orbit around their parent planet. Speakers and lights are set up in a circle, and visitors may walk around or sit on the sun seat for an immersive audio/visual experience. Orbital periods vary greatly from IO sounding multiple times per second to Pluto only going off once every 90 minutes. The installation is intended to be set up in a dark room running continuously. At full potential OR would also include LED orbits suspended from above with planets, moons and speakers also attached to the grid so the floor would be clear. Possible installation locations include gallery spaces, art festivals, science centers or large outdoor art spaces.
